Matching Goals With Mentor Experience
One of the most important factors in choosing a mentor is ensuring your expectations match those of what the mentor can offer. An important thing to take note; an expert in any field is not necessary a good teacher, coach or mentor.
This is particularly the case with online business because the Internet is an enormous field of diverse complexity involving various technology and marketing strategies.
Determine and specify the goals that you wish to achieve and accomplish from the relationship. Be as detail as possible and then match the mentor background and experience with that of your expectations.
Be frank to tell the mentor what you wish to gain from the mentoring and ask him or her to be upfront on what they can provide in terms of their expertise and ability to counsel so that you can achieve your goals and expectations.
The Ability To Teach
Just because an Internet marketer is very good with making money online does not necessary implies he or she will be able to impart the required skills and knowledge to others.
For instance, I know of a guy who is an excellent software developer, someone who can churn out wonderful software application in hours. The same cannot be said about his ability to train or coach someone under him though.
Determine the number of years of teaching experience and the number of students that the mentor has personally trained. Do not be shy to ask the mentor for testimonials from past mentee or students as well as any online feedback on the credibility of the mentor in ability to successful trained people.
