If you have a Google Adsense account then chances are that you  jolly well know there are  few ways for you  to monetize your site content as a publisher. Adsense for content is one Google’s earliest contextual marketing sponsor ad strategy that  can  help to generate passive income.

Adsense for search and feeds are less popular I think, most publishers  don’t seem to make much money out of it, it probably explains why Google decides to pull the plug off these two pretty soon.

What is AdSense For Feeds?

Google recently announced it is letting go the service for feeds.  No specific reason given for the decision apart from the fact that email notification to Adsense publishers confirm beyond reasonable of doubt earlier rumors that it will be shut down for good by December 3rd 2012.

Anyway, it is such a pity because even though the commission payout from Adsense feed is not really a lot, nevertheless it is a completely hands off approach to earn some money from all your blogs.

There are also unconfirmed reports that Google is also planning to shut down Feedburner, a service that helps you to monitor and track RSS or atom feed traffic. (How many people sign up to receive your blog post notification through email, and etc. )

It is a no brainer to use Feedburner. Just input your blog or website RSS link and it will generate a new link which you then place on your site.  The link generated looks rather cryptic and in terms of SEO perspectives, it  is not no good.

Do checkout this Wiki link for more information about Feedburner. Should you consider it in the mean time? Well, with all the uncertainties and rumors of more services that will be wind down moving forward, it is best to look for alternative solutions. After all Google spring cleaning is an ongoing basis so do be prepare for it.

Summary

What can we learn from Google spring cleaning?  Don’ put all your eggs in one basket so to speak. It is very important to have multiple stream of income so as to minimize potential impact arising out from situation such as the above.

Furthermore, it is also important to take note that you don’t have control over free services or tools offered by others. Don’t take for granted any free Internet marketing service offered by even well established businesses going to be around indefinitely.
