It’s interesting that of late almost every product that Apple launched into market turn out to be killer product. Take for instance Apple’s once upon a time flagship product the Ipod. Apple is the not the first company to produce MP3 player with hard disk.

As a matter of fact Creative Technology is the first local Singapore company that pioneered MP3 player incorporating hard disk but less than 2 years after Creative’s Nomad Juke Box hit the store shelf, Apple’s I pod MP3 player swept the world and put and end to Creative consumer market domination of Mp3 products. Creative’s Nomad Jukebox looks like ridiculous crab compare to I pod’s sleek and slimline design.

So what went wrong with Creative Technology’s MP3 line of products? Why is it that despite being in the forefront and having a huge advantage in terms of time to market the company loss market share to Apple’s I pod?

There are of course various reasons ranging from technical aspect such as product features to marketing and pricing. As a whole I think one of the biggest reason is that Creative Technology try to sell product that they make while Apple make product that sells.

It is such a simple logic but you will be surprised how many companies make the same mistake. As matter of fact many a times we make the same mistake too. Moreover, in our daily work life, most of us end in trying to make things right instead of doing the right thing. It’s no wonder why we work hard but achieve very little at times.
