Much has been said and discussed on the pro and cons of selling digital content versus physical products online. Nowadays you can practically sell anything online.

The commissions offered by such marketplaces are much higher versus selling  physical products in  places such as Amazon and eBay stores.

Some products in Clickbank offer as much as up to 75% or more affiliate commission while Amazon ranges from 3% to 5% maximum.  Furthermore, you can build a list of customer subscribers where you can sell over and over gain through your thank you page after someone purchase a digital product.

You can’t build a list from selling Amazon products as an affiliate because you are not able to contact the customer directly.

Another major advantage with selling digital products as an affiliate is that you may get recurrence payment such as those involving membership sites, monthly or annually bill services for software licensing and ongoing enhancement or upgrades and etc.

You are only paid once when you make an online physical product per sale. Even if you factor in any upsells the fact is that you will only get paid once for that upsell.  Recurrence billing for physical product is not as common as digital goods.

Apart from the time spent to create an online product such as an ebook or a software, there is not much upfront capital required versus physical products where you need to source and stock inventory, liaise with suppliers to secure marketing rights and etc.

More and more people are buying goods online.  For many, it is a time saver as it alleviates the hassle associated with time to travel and queue up to pay for the item in the retail shop.

On the other hand, eCommerce activity is growing at a tremendous rate and is estimated to involved $4.1 TRILLION dollars woth of goods in the world.

Selling physical products via on-line web-portal is getting more interesting and lucrative due to drop shipping in AliExpress, Amazon and etc.

Using drop shipping essentially provides you the option of  not having the need to personally handle the shipment of the product. You can if you want to by the way for instance offer your own physical products  in the eCom store.

Generally speaking, the perceived value of a physical product is much higher than a digital product. You can take the opportunity to expand and increase your customer base and outreach by starting an e-commerce even if you already have a retail brick and mortar business.

Just imagine being able to run a store 24 hours 7 days a week with little or no extra overhead operational cost.

There are advantageous and disadvantageous to sell digital products or physical products online. I guess it is just a matter of preferences as to which way you should go for.
