One of the easiest ways to monetize a blog or a website is by selling advertising space. You can approach advertisers directly or they might contact you if your site has good targeted traffic. If you are just starting out as a novice Internet business owner then it makes sense to consider Google targeted ads on content pages.
One popular question in the mind of most novice webmasters is in regards on how to optimize Google AdSense Ads placement so as to achieve highest CTR (Click Through Rate). There is no hard and fast rule because to certain extent much depends on the website or blog layout.
The best way to determine the ideal location is by tracking user mouse click and movement on your web page. There are many companies that offers such tracking service for instance Crazy Egg. It is important to know how a visitor navigate through the various widgets and visualize the eye motion which in turn determine hot spot areas which are more likely to result in higher clicks.
Another not so sophisticated method to estimate the best spot for the ads is by understanding the interaction between vision and brain coordination while surfing a website. The norm path of natural eye movement is from left to right and scanning from top to bottom.
It is observe that ads ‘above the fold’ has higher CTR compare to areas that are obscured and required mouse scrolling or keyboard page up or page down to locate. Ads on the top in the form of a horizontal banner or a leader board are more likely to garner mouse click. The figure below indicates the heat map spread across a typical website layout.
Besides determining the best paying locations to insert the Adsense code, you can also further boost your commission publisher income by including high bidding keywords in your content so as to attract better paying rates. In some cases a low CTR can still yield good profit if the CPC value associated with the ads is high. You should target cost per click of at least one dollar and above.
Place your advertisement in positions that will receive highest clicks. Monitor the performance of the revenue generating spots. Change the locations or the keywords if necessary and be consistent in posting quality content . Last but not least, follow the Google Webmaster guidelines and don’t to outsmart the search engines because nine out of ten times you loose.

If you have a blog with Blogger (a blog that is hosted by Blogger platform which ends with .blogspot ) it is worth to note that all the pictures and photos you upload to Blogger blogs are by default stored into Picasa web album. You are advised to back up copies of your photos as you never know when you might just need them.
I had the shocked of my life today when I realized that all the pictures, photographs and banners that I uploaded to several of my blogger blogs had disappeared. Some of my blogs in the blogger platform are dated as far way back to 2008 or even earlier. Hundreds of photos that I uploaded throughout the years gone just like that.
Initially I thought Google might have done something to my blogger account due to violation of terms and conditions (which I did, I will tell you in a moment later). On second thought I realize that it could not be the case because apart from all missing photos and pictures, the contents are intact.
Later I recalled that I did delete some photos from my Samsung SII Galaxy gallery. It didn’t occur to me that I have configured the smartphone Android to access my Picase photo album where all my blogger blog photos were stored!. If you have blogs in bloggerspot do take caution before you delete any photos or pictures from the gallery!
On another footnote, mighty Google has serve me a notice that my Google Adsense serving for some of my sites has been disabled. Well, I must say I violated the terms and conditions but I am say I am surprised that they did not disable my Adsense account completely. I guess it is out of goodwill that they did not go ahead to ban me completely from Adsense.
Anyway the point that I would like to bring across is 1) make sure you don’t mess with Google and 2) diversify your online income, don’t put all your eggs in one basket. Well, that’s so much to it, I am slapped with double whammy unfortunate happenings the past few days, call it bad luck if you may but I guess, I just have to move on.

Okay, you sign up as affiliates for Amazon, Clickbank and other affiliate programs in the hope of getting as many sales commisions as possible. You set up nice websites with proper landing pages and then you thought money will start to roll in. After all, that’s what most of the Internet Gurus would have you believe that making online money is as easy as it can be.
You waited for days and perhaps even weeks and not a single successful sale. You wonder what had gone wrong. As matter of fact you shouldn’t be surprised at all. Why is that so? After all, over 98% of the Internet Marketers and online business entrepreneurs never make it through the 1st 2 years. Shocking isn’t it?
Setting up an e-commerce site is easy indeed. The capital start up cost to establish an online business is dirt-cheap. The hard part though is getting your site to being profitable in relation to the amount of time you invest into it. Online business and Internet marketing is not a get rich quick dream that many Internet Gurus would want you to believe.
The life line of all online business is traffic. Without traffic, your website or blog will just be that, an orphan site with no one noticing it, ever, period. No traffic equals to no visitor and no visitor means no sales and no sales equals to close shop. Traffic alone is not enough though. You need quality traffic, traffic that converts visitors into buyers of your product or service.
The million dollar question therefore is how do you get people to notice and thereafter visit your site? The answer couldn’t be simpler. Majority of people make use of the search engine to locate sites that are relevant to their keyword searches. Therefore you must get your website to rank as high as possible in SERP (search engine result page)
How do you improve and increase your website page ranking? There are two ways to divert traffic to your website as far as SERP is concern. The two methods are 1) Paid search engine marketing and 2) Organic search traffic.
When done correctly, paid search engine marketing can improve and increase traffic to your website very quickly, usually within days. For this post we will talk about paid search engine marketing. In the next subsequent post we will touch upon organic search traffic.
PPC is also known as performance based form of advertising because you only need to pay when people click on your ads. You might end up with lots of clicks and no sales if you do not target your ads with the appropriate keywords that draw the right kind of traffic that converts to sales.
The main advantage with paid search traffic is that you can get your site rank highly by the search engines in the shortest possible time if you target the right keywords and outbid others in terms of CPC (cost per click). The main big draw back associated with this method is that you need to spend money before you even make your first sale.
The main disadvantage with paid search engine marketing is that you have to continuously monitor your search campaigns, fine-tune the keywords so as to improve the click through rate of your ads. Traffic to your website and thus your page ranking is affected the moment you stop the paid search traffic campaigns.
Furthermore, you don’t have to worry about backlinks because Goggle in particular no longer take backlinks into consideration when dealing with paid search traffic. You don’t need to put efforts and time into getting quality backlinks even though there is no harm to do so.
You may come across Internet Marketing promotions that boast about eighteen-year-old kids that earns well over 20K grand online by using certain IM strategy and techniques. What these Gurus failed to tell you honestly are the amount of money these people spend on PPC bidding on competitive keywords in order to achieve the high page ranking in SERP. Thus a 20K sales may actually translate to just couple of hundred of dollars net profit after you minus off the advertising cost!
Using PPC As List Building Strategy
List building is a great way to build your online business. The money is in the list. You may have heard this saying in the online marketing world. It is true. It means that the larger your subscriber list is the more money you will make.
The list is contact information you have from the visitors to your website. It is easier to sell to a repeated customer than to a stranger. Once you have someone on your list you can send helpful information to that person and once you have his or her trust you can start selling to him or her.
You can build a huge subscriber list quickly via PPC marketing if you can get your ads to show up for the keywords you are targeting. You can then drive traffic to your landing page through the ads and get the potential prospects and leads to sign up in exchange for free gifts such as e-books.
Using PPC To Increase AdSense Income
AdSense is the counterpart of AdWords. As an advertiser you pay Goggle via PPC AdWords to get your ads display in SERP whereas as a publisher, you get paid when someone click on the AdSense links embedded in your webpage or blog.
Three factors that determine your AdSense income are 1) the amount of traffic to your website or webpage and 2) the click through rate of your AdSense, 3) the cost per click of the keywords that the AdSense is targeting.
So long as the Goggle AdSense income generated is more than what you paid for Goggle AdWords PPC campaigns to drive traffic to your site, you should be fine. As a matter of fact there are some Gurus who are making huge AdSense income through this approach.
Apart from Goggle AdWords, you should also try to diversity paid search traffic to include Yahoo and Microsoft Bing search engines. No doubt Goggle still holds the lion share in terms of search volume, nevertheless there are still signficant searches conducted via Yahoo and Microsoft online marketing channels.
Please checkout Brad Callen’s Goggle AdWords Made Easy e-book. It is not difficult to maximize your returns from PPC Goggle AdWords. You need to continue to refine your keywords and do split testing to eliminate those none profitable campaigns (none optimize and none profitable keywords).

Goggle does not publicly disclose how much top publishers earn from Goggle AdSense. Neither could anyone verify those who boast of earning 4 or 5 figure income just purely based on focusing on AdSense. It is not surprising that the gap between top 2% AdSense earners and the rest could be quite huge.
Is it possible to live a comfortable lifestyle by relying solely on just AdSense? What is the secret to earning four or figure income via AdSense? Is those Internet Marketing Guru’s exaggerating and bragging when they claimed they earn big paycheck just simply by using AdSense?
Isn’t there any information that bares no hold bar to disclose exactly how to be really successful with Goggle AdSense? One of the most authoritative people who qualify to talk about Goggle AdSense is Joel Comm. He is the author of the Amazon best seller ‘The AdSense Code’.
I bought a copy of the AdSense Code the day the revised soft copy of the product was launched. That was quite some time way back. As a matter of fact, the AdSense Code was revised couple of times and new chapters added, much to the benefit for those who order the latest revision of the book.
Truth to be told, there is no such thing as a smoking gun as far as Goggle AdSense is concern. If you are wondering if Goggle AdSense can make you rich overnight or bring you four or five figure income easily without any efforts than I must say you will be disappointed.
On the average, most people get to earn a few dollars daily with AdSense. Experience Internet Marketers or online business marketers may be able to make a couple of hundreds of dollars daily with it.
How much you get paid for the clicks on the sponsored ads depends on how much advertisers are willing to bid and pay for the keywords pertaining to the ads published on your website.
If you follow and implement the necessary blue print as outline in the AdSense Code and take action, you can expect to realistically and comfortably earn one or two thousand dollars per month with AdSense.
It is possible to earn four or five figure sum if you take massive actions to drive targeted traffics to your websites. You need to make sure the websites or blogs contains good quality contents.
It is not surprising that some of the more successful AdSense publishers make use of PPC method such as Goggle AdWords to drive targeted traffic to their AdSense ready sites. You need to do the math to make sure that the amount of money spend on Goggle AdWords do not exceed the profit generated from AdSense.
Strategies to improve your AdSense CTR (Click Through Rate)
Your success with Goggle AdSense depends primarily on 1) quality content, 2) volume of targeted traffic and 3) the number of websites or blogs. In some sense AdSense is a number’s game. The more websites and blogs you have with Goggle sponsored ads, the higher chances that people will click on the AdSense links.
You need to provide quality contents, information that address problems or which draws the attention of the reader. Always ask yourself as to why a reader should click on the AdSense Goggle advertisement posted on your websites or blogs.
The answer is simple, you need publish articles and contents which has perceived value and the content must be presented in such a way so as to arouse the curiosity and interest of the reader to want to know more about the topic in discussion.
Most people are adverse to online advertisements and could smell or sense it from a mile away so speak. Advertisement banners are no longer effective as it used to be. Have it ever occur to you that people tend to switch to another television channel to skip advertisements? The same goes for online ads. Most people are immune to ads subconsciously.
Try to blend in Goggle sponsored ads in your webpage in between the article posting by setting the border color of the ads to be the same as that of the background color of webpage. Adjust the font and size of the ads so that it blends in with the article.
Embed your articles and contents with relevant keywords and position the Goggle sponsored AdSense ads above the fold so that user don’t have to scroll down or hit the page down button to view the ads.

There are many ways to monetize your blog. One of the easiest and fastest way albeit not the most lucrative way to earn money through blogging is by implementing Google Adsense. What is AdSense?
In a nutshell AdSense is an interesting advertising concept that was initiated by Google many years ago. No doubt there are many new online business advertising models or strategies being conceptualize and implemented as of late. AdSense continues to be a a favourite advertising method and one of the easiest way in terms of blog monetization.
AdSense is one of Google’s main advertising program. It presents monetization opportunity to the website owners by allowing Google to post either text or image advertisements on their websites. The advertisement placed on the website is context sensitive in the sense that the advertistment is selected based on the topics and contents of the webpage or blog displaying it. Google has indicated plans to enhance AdSense by targeting ads based on the user surfing behavior. This is term behavioral advertising.
The entry requirement for Website owners to participate in AdSense is pretty straightforward and easy. Website owners need to enroll to the AdSense program through Google’s AdSense website. Google AdSense program requires you (the website owner & who is also designated the publisher) to include a piece of code (usually a programming script) on your website.
You have the full flexibility to include the AdSense code anywhere in the html code of your website i.e. depending on where you want to position the advertisements (however, there are certain rules that you must strictly follow while pasting this scripting code in other to conform to Google AdSense terms and conditions!).
The piece of AdSense code generated determines the structure of advertisements and content (and this is what helps Google in floating the advertisements on your website). You can choose different setting of advertisement and types such as banner, buttons, square, mixture of text and images and etc.
When people visit your website they are able to see these advertisements. Your earnings are based on how many Google Ads are displayed on your website and also based on how many times visitors to your website actually click on one of those Ads. The Google AdSense system calculates your revenue on per-click (CPC) and per-thousand-Ads-displayed (CPM) basis. The latter is also known as impressions.
For people who want to advertise their products and services through the Google AdSense system, it’s just a matter of signing up through Google Adwords program and letting Google know how much they want to spend towards advertising through Google AdSense. I was extremely confused and could not really differentiate between Google Adwords and Google AdSense when I first started online business.
Well, in a nutshell Google Adwords is targeted at advertisers who wish to have their ads placed on websites, blogs and search engine results listings while Google AdSense is targeted at publishers (web site owners and blog owners) who allows Google to place advertisement on their sites. As advertisers you need to bid for keywords and pay Google while as publishers you get paid when someone click on the Ads.
These businesses can specify the limit and Google AdSense system will accordingly serve their Ads so as to ensure that the specified limit is not crossed. Google AdSense increases the visibility of their business/ services and also increases traffic going to their website; hence fulfilling their purpose of advertising.
